Surah No

79

Surah An-Nazi’at primarily focuses on the Day of Judgment, resurrection, and the fate of the disbelievers and believers. The key themes include:

  • The Day of Resurrection: The Surah describes the intense events of the Day of Judgment, where souls will be snatched from the body and the universe will be destroyed.

  • Accountability and reward/punishment: It speaks of the ultimate judgment people will face for their actions, emphasizing that the disbelievers will face severe punishment while the believers will be rewarded.

  • The finality of the Day of Reckoning: The Surah emphasizes that the Day of Judgment will be inevitable, and all of creation will be held accountable for their deeds.

  • Affirmation of the Afterlife: The Surah reinforces the reality of the afterlife, where every soul will be resurrected and judged by Allah.

  • Warning against disbelief: It serves as a warning for those who reject the Day of Judgment, urging them to repent before it is too late.

  • Reminder of Allah’s power: The Surah highlights the incredible power of Allah in both creation and destruction, urging reflection on His might.

  • Strengthens belief in the Day of Judgment and reinforces the concept of resurrection and accountability.

  • Encourages reflection on the transient nature of life and the eternal consequences of one’s actions.

  • Spiritual protection: Reciting this Surah is believed to provide protection from the punishment of the Hereafter and help remain steadfast in faith.

  1. The Day of Judgment:

    • The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Surah An-Nazi’at, it will intercede for him on the Day of Judgment.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

  2. Reflection on the soul-snatchers:

    • The Surah speaks of the angels who seize the souls of the disbelievers and believers: “By those who violently pull out the soul (of the disbeliever), and gently release the soul (of the believer).” (78:1)
