Surah No

113

  • Seeking Protection from Harm: Surah Al-Falaq is a supplication to Allah seeking protection from all forms of harm, evil, and mischief. It specifically asks for refuge from the evil of external threats such as the harm caused by dark forces, jealousy, magic, and envy.

  • Seeking Protection from the Forces of Darkness: The Surah highlights Allah’s ability to protect His servants from the forces of darkness (e.g., black magic, evil eyes, jealousy, spiteful individuals).

  • Invocation for Refuge: The Surah emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah’s refuge in times of distress and danger, acknowledging that only Allah has the power to protect and deliver believers from harm.

  • Context of Revelation: Surah Al-Falaq was revealed to seek protection from external evil forces. Some scholars suggest that it was revealed in the context of the magical harm that was cast upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), which is narrated in various hadiths.

  • Comprehensive Protection: It is considered one of the two “protection Surahs” (the other being Surah An-Nas), often recited for protection from all kinds of physical, spiritual, and emotional harms.

  • Universal Significance: This Surah emphasizes Allah’s power to protect against all forms of evil, and it has universal relevance as a means of seeking safety from dangers and harmful entities in everyday life.

  • Protection from Evil: Reciting Surah Al-Falaq regularly is believed to provide divine protection against evil influences, including envy, the evil eye, and the harmful effects of black magic.

  • Peace of Mind: The Surah offers a sense of spiritual security, bringing calm and peace to the reciter, knowing they are invoking Allah’s protection from all harm.

  • Strengthening Faith: It reinforces the concept of total dependence on Allah for safety, reminding believers that no harm can affect them without Allah’s will.

    • The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas, nothing will harm them.” (Sahih Muslim)
This Hadith emphasizes the protection offered by these Surahs from the dangers of jealousy, magic, and all forms of evil.

  • Spiritual Immunity:

    • The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also said: “Recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas every morning and evening for protection from every calamity and evil.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
This teaching indicates the importance of reciting these Surahs regularly for spiritual immunity against harm.
