Surah No

64

Surah At-Taghabun focuses on faith, accountability, and the reality of the Hereafter. It is a Madinan Surah that highlights:

  • The contrast between belief and disbelief: It describes how people are divided into two groups—those who succeed by following divine guidance and those who lose by rejecting it.

  • The Day of Judgment (Taghabun – The Day of Mutual Loss and Gain): It emphasizes that true success and loss will be realized in the Hereafter, where believers will be rewarded, and disbelievers will face consequences.

  • Trust in Allah: Encourages reliance on Allah in all aspects of life and warns against being distracted by worldly possessions and relationships.

  • Reminds of the ultimate reality: That this world is temporary, and true gain or loss will be determined on the Day of Judgment.

  • Encourages patience and gratitude: It teaches believers to be patient in trials and grateful for Allah’s blessings.

  • Guidance on wealth and family: Warns that wealth and family can be a test, urging believers to prioritize faith over materialism

  • Strengthens faith by emphasizing the importance of belief in Allah and the Hereafter.

  • Encourages detachment from materialism and focus on preparing for the Hereafter.

  • Brings peace and patience in times of hardship, as it reassures believers that trials are a test from Allah.

  • Trust in Allah:

    • The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “If you put your trust in Allah as you should, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and return full in the evening.” (Tirmidhi)

  • Warning against attachment to worldly possessions:

    • “Your wealth and children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward.” (Quran 64:15)
