Surah No

38

Surah Sad addresses several themes, with a focus on divine justice, prophethood, and the consequences of disbelief. Key themes include:

  • The stories of past prophets: It recounts the stories of prophets like David (Dawud), Solomon (Sulaiman), and Job (Ayub), illustrating their trials and how they overcame them with faith in Allah.

  • The importance of patience and repentance: The Surah emphasizes how the prophets remained patient and faithful during their trials and sought Allah’s forgiveness.

  • The rejection of the truth: It warns of the consequences of rejecting the message of the prophets, as seen in the fate of disbelieving nations.

  • Divine justice: It highlights Allah’s justice in rewarding the righteous and punishing the wrongdoers.

  • Affirms the mission of the prophets: Reinforces the idea that all prophets conveyed the same core message of worshiping Allah alone.

  • Warning against arrogance: The Surah reminds of the dangers of arrogance and rebellion against Allah, as demonstrated by figures like Iblis (Satan) and others who rejected divine guidance.

  • Patience and perseverance: Through the stories of the prophets, the Surah teaches the value of patience and trust in Allah during times of hardship.

  • Strengthens faith in Allah’s justice and mercy.

  • Encourages patience and perseverance in the face of trials and difficulties.

  • Reminds of the consequences of rejecting divine guidance and arrogance.

  • Brings protection from misguidance and the whispers of Satan.

  1. Patience in the face of hardship:

    • The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Surah Sad, Allah will grant him patience like that of the prophets.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

  2. Trust in Allah’s justice:

    • The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Indeed, Allah’s justice is always perfect, even when we do not see the results immediately.” (Sahih Bukhari)
